Sullivan & Associates, Inc. is proud to offer a thorough line of professional mechanical testing services.  If you have any questions or would like any additional information about services below, please feel free to contact our office.

Tensile Testing:

Utilizing high quality equipment from proven manufacturers such as Tinius Olsen, Epsilon and Satec, Sullivan & Associates, Inc. can produce highly accurate results in an efficient and cost effective manner.   Some of the highlights of the tensile testing services provided by Sullivan & Associates, Inc. include:

  • Tinius Olsen 60k Super L universal tensile tester with a computer operated servo-hydraulic control system.  The servo-hydraulic system allows for unsurpassed rate control, including crosshead separation rate and strain rate control, meeting the rate requirements common in today’s various industries.  Our tensile tester complies with test method requirements including ASTM E8, ASTM A370, ASTM B557, ASTM F606, ISO 6892-1, DIN EN 10002-1, AWS and ASME.  Our tensile tester is professionally calibrated in accordance with ASTM E4 from 120 lbf to 60,000 lbf.
  • Tinius Olsen and Epsilon extensometers with gage lengths ranging from 0.64 inch to 2 inch.  Our extensometers are professionally calibrated in accordance with ASTM E83 and meet or exceed class B-1 requirements.
  • Satec External Load Cell.  Our Satec external load cell is professionally calibrated in accordance with ASTM E4 from 10 lbf to 5,000 lbf.  This load cell expands our capabilities to include tensile testing of small items such as wires and foils.  Our load cell is calibrated with our Tinius Olsen servo-hydraulic load frame so it can be operated with the same rate controls as our larger load cell.
  • State of the art Data Acquisition Software.  In addition to the our ability to capture electronic data, our data acquisition software also allows us to control different test parameters including test rate.  Our data acquisition software also allows us to generate repeatable test results including yield strength and modulus.

Bend Testing:

Whether for weld testing, coating adhesion or raw material testing, Sullivan & Associates, Inc. proudly offers high quality bend testing services.  Utilizing guided bend jigs, we can meet bend test method requirements including ASTM E190 and ASTM E290.  Further, our bend testing services include the ability to perform weld bends in accordance with various welding codes including AWS D1.1, D1.2, D1.3, D1.6, B4.0 and ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code, Section IX.

Hardness Testing:

Sullivan and Associates, Inc. can provide hardness test results for a variety of samples, materials and applications.  Whether on-site field hardness testing or hardness testing performed by stationary equipment in a controlled environment, Sullivan & Associates, Inc. delivers high quality Rockwell Hardness, Brinell Hardness and Leeb Hardness results in an efficient and cost effective manner.  Using high quality, calibrated equipment, Sullivan & Associates, Inc. can provide hardness test results meeting the method requirements of ASTM E18, ASTM E10, ASTM E110, ASTM A956, ISO 6508-1 and ISO 6506-1.

Weld Testing:

In addition to our complete weld procedure and welder qualification testing services, Sullivan & Associates, Inc. is pleased to offer weld consultation services.  Utilizing experienced AWS Certified Welding Inspectors (CWI), we can provide our customers with assistance writing weld procedures, selecting standard weld procedure specifications, documenting weld programs properly and determining what testing needs and methods are necessary and most cost efficient.  As an added benefit to our customers, Sullivan & Associates performs a radiography exam on all weld procedure coupons prior to machining.  By doing this, we can detect significant discontinuities earlier in the testing process thereby reducing the associated costs of retesting.  With our in-house testing, inspection and consultation services, Sullivan & Associates, Inc. is truly your one-stop-shop for weld testing service.

Machining:

New for 2011, Sullivan & Associates, Inc. now has in-house machining capabilities.  In-house machining allows Sullivan & Associates to produce high quality test specimens at a reduced cost and in less time.  With this new capability, we can efficiently machine:

  • Tensile coupons compliant with ASTM E8, A370, B557 and ISO 6892-1
  • Bend coupons compliant with ASTM E190, E290, AWS and ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code, Section IX
  • Hardness coupons compliant with ASTM E18, E10, ISO 6508-1 and ISO 6506-1.

Additional Mechanical Testing Services:

As Sullivan & Associates, Inc. continues to grow, we are constantly looking to provide new services for our customers.  We encourage you to keep us in mind for all mechanical testing services.   Some additional services we can help with include:
